Webmail Interface
The NICeMail suite has easy-to-use webmail, with features that help users organize emails, respond to them and collaborate with the team effectively. The users can easily classify and refer to the emails using folders, tags, filters, search etc.
Further, there are personalization options in Settings, to use the webmail based on individual preferences.
Right Pane
The icons on the right pane of your webmail interface help in accessing the following features.
- Notifications - Get instant notifications for activities involving you.
- User Profile - You can click the Avatar to view your profile details, sign out of your active session, and change your Cliq availability status.
- Offline Mode - Enable offline mode to access your mailbox even without being connected to the internet.
- Settings - You can customize your inbox using the preferred mailbox settings by clicking on the settings icon.
- Attachment Viewer - You can view and manage all your attachments from one place by clicking on the attachment viewer icon.
- Calendar widget - You can use the Calendar widget to create new event or view the events for the day and the Agenda for the entire month.
- Toggle eWidget - You can access all your extensions from the eWidget icon.
Left Pane
The left pane remains constant and has Compose, Folders, Shared with me, Tags, Saved searches, and Views.
Note:
You can hide or expand the Apps pane of the NICeMail web interface using the Hide Apps button on the bottom left corner of the screen.
NICeMail Suite Apps
NICeMail has a set of apps, Calendar, Tasks, Notes, Contacts, Bookmarks, and Resources that are part of the NICeMail Suite. You can navigate to these applications using the icons on the extreme left pane.
Multiple Tabs View
NICeMail supports multiple tabs view. By default, the current application is listed in the First or Default tab. The Search results, Settings, Attachment Viewer, Composer all open in new tabs, to effectively manage multi-tasking inside Webmail, without losing the context.
Similarly, when you have attachments like documents or spreadsheets in an email, you can also view them in a new tab.
Email Listing
Email listing is the area where the emails are listed based on the selected Folder/ Label/ View/ Search. The emails can be sorted and searched in this area.
You can also drag and drop the messages from the Email listing to various folders to move them, or over Tags to apply tags. The attachments in an email can be accessed directly from the Attachment Viewer and perform quick actions over the attachment.
Preview pane
You can use the horizontal or vertical preview pane to view the emails along with the email listing. The preview pane is the easiest way to navigate through the emails using up and down keys in the email listing.
You can choose 'Open in Tab' to view the emails in a tab, instead of the preview pane.
Note:
The preview pane can be resized by clicking and dragging to the left or right.
Search Bar
You can provide some terms to locate the emails you look for. The Auto-Fill helps you to quickly fill the email address to search based on the contacts. You can also use the Advanced Search option to search for emails by providing multiple conditions for a more precise search.
eWidget in NICeMail
NICeMail offers smooth integrations across different applications, as extensions, which allow you to view and access information and perform actions in those applications without leaving your mailbox. All the available app extensions are listed in the eWidget app menu. You can access them by clicking the eWidget icon on the right menu.
Pinned Extensions
You can pin the applications that you use frequently using the following steps,
- Click the Toggle eWidget icon from the right pane.
- Hover over the relevant application in the eWidget menu and click on the Pin icon to add the extension to the right menu bar below the eWidget icon.
Mark Extensions as Favorite
You can mark extensions as favorite if you use them regularly but don't need them pinned to the right menu. To mark applications as favorite,
- Click the Toggle eWidget icon from the right pane.
- Hover over the relevant application in the eWidget menu and click on the Star icon to mark the extension as favorite.
The extensions marked as favorite will be listed first inside the eWidget menu but will not be visible on the right menu bar. There is no maximum limit to the number of extensions you can mark as favorite.
Sticky Note
Sticky notes are a great tool to take down your random thoughts and ideas that might get lost in the spur of the moment. Certain notes that you want to be reminded of when you open your mailbox, can also be made as sticky notes. These notes are affixed to your mailbox screen and can be minimized, popped out, resized, or closed depending on the requirement.
Steps to create a sticky note:
- Log in to https://mail.gov.in/.
- Click on the New Mail drop-down on the left pane and choose New Note.
- Click on the Make it as sticky note icon on the top left corner of the new note.
- The Note will be affixed to your mailbox.
- The sticky note is actionable and all actions can be performed, similar to the usual notes.
You can also make a note as a sticky note from the Notes app preview. Click on More Actions at the bottom of the note you want to make sticky and select the Make it as sticky note option. The respective Note will be affixed to your mailbox.
To convert an existing note into a sticky note,
- Log in to https://mail.gov.in/.
- Navigate to the Notes application on the left pane and open the note which you want to make it as a sticky note.
- Click on the Make it as sticky note icon when the relevant note is in pop-out view.
Note:
Sticky notes can be placed in the preferred position on the mail interface using the drag option.
The minimized sticky notes can be accessed from the sticky notes icon in the bottom right corner of your mailbox. The number on the icon indicates the number the of sticky notes minimized and saved.
Note:
Sticky notes will be visible in your mail interface even on refreshing the page.
Embedded Cliq Chat
NICeMail is a collaborative email, which comes with the embedded Cliq instant messenger. You can access your Cliq Contacts, Chats, and Channels from the Smart chat bar at the bottom of your Mailbox. Click on the Chats, Contacts, or Channels icons on the bottom for a quick search in the relevant tabs.
Supported Browsers
NICeMail provides a webmail interface that can be accessed from any standard browser, to send and receive emails.
You can use the current and recent stable versions of the following browsers.
- Chrome
- Firefox
- Internet Explorer
- Safari
Javascript is used to make the NICeMail pages interactive. Cookies are required to store and use the current user session and details for validation. Hence the browsers should be Javascript and cookies enabled to use NICeMail.
